Bigeye Tuna
Outer Banks Fishing for Bigeye Tuna
North Carolina Outer Banks offshore fishing for bigeye tuna is some of the best in the world. The combination of bottom structure on the continental shelf and the gulfstream current and eddies provide year round fishing. Our run to the Gulf Stream is short in comparison with many east coast destinations, averaging 30-45 miles.
Bigeye tuna can be caught anytime from May to November. Generally we catch bigeyes while targeting yellowfin and employ the same tackle.
These fish are larger than yellowfin tuna and range from 70 to 200+ pounds.
