5-21-11, More Yellowfins and nice Gaffers
Today Justin Metts and gang from South Carolina joined us on a slick calm day. We were fortunate to get jumped a couple times by gaffer dolphin on the change and out in the open. Also caught 7 yellowfins to give the guys a great mixed bag for dinner. Thanks!
5-20-11, Scrapped out a Day
We had Tom Harvey and crew from Greenville, NC today. A few Dolphin on the change in am and scrapped out 3 Yellowfins later on. Thanks!
5-13-11, Nice Yellowfins, Couple Dolphin
Today we had Tom Evans and crew from Virginia and Maryland. Big swell in the inlet but all the boats made it across the bar OK and is was beautiful conditions while fishing. Caught 9 nice yellowfins, a handful of dolphin and a token King Mackeral. Thanks!
5-7-11, Tunas and a Mako
Today we had Matt McCartney and crew from PA. Scrappy fishing but we picked out a day with 6 nice yellowfins, a couple gaffer dolphin, and a 91lb mako. Still have lots of days open including next Saturday so give us a call or e-mail. Thanks!
5-1-11, Few Yellowfins, Tough luck on a Bigeye
Today we had Kevin Gayleard and gang from Virginia. Started off the morning with pair of yellowfins then shortly after hooked a nice bigeye. Unfortunately, after an hour fight we had the fish on the leader and pulled the hook. We scrapped out 5 more nice yellowfins the rest of the day. Although we were the only boat to catch bigeyes yesterday, 4 other boats caught them today so a good sign for fishing to improve. Thanks!
4-30-11, Big Eyes!
Today we had Billy Parks and crew from Blackstone Virginia. We had luck on our side and got hit by the bigeyes and caught 4 at once. They weighed 95lbs, 106lbs, 128lbs, and 184lbs. We caught 1 yellowfin to top off the box with 530lbs of fish. Congrats to the boys and Happy Birthday Billy!
4/23/11, Mixed Bag
Today we had long time customer Dr. Bob Scott from Maryland with his crew. Rough again today but we picked out a decent catch including some nice yellowfins, a blackfin, gaffer dolphin and a 98lb mako. Thanks!
4/22/11, Few Tunas
We had Paul Bowersox and crew today. No wind when we left the dock but it breezed up out of the NE half way out and quickly got choppy. They crew hung tough and fishing was very slow but we scrapped out a few nice yellowfin. Thanks!
Home from Mexico, Ready for Sping Tuna!
We fished our last few days in Mexico on March 18, 19th, and 20th. We had our boat owner along with Don Trexlor and Charles Vernon. The Full moon treated us right and we ended the season with great sail-fishing. We caught 22 of 35 bites on the 18th, 32 of 60 bites on the 19th, and 9 of 16 bites on a half day on the 20th. We left Mexico at daybreak on wednesday the 23rd and were tied up at Pirates Cove at 1:30 pm on Saturday the 26th. We have some maintenance to take care of on the boat and will be ready to roll the second week of April. Below is a pic of a tuna catch from last May and we hope for some more action like that this season. There are still some Bluefins around as well so give us a call or e-mail to book your trip.
Sorry for lack of fishing reports. Bad internet service and fishing everyday for 3 weeks kept us from reporting. Fishing slowed quite a bit from Jan and early Feb but still good action at times. Mike Birch and crew caught 28 fish in 2 days on the 15th and 16th of feb. Joe and Tim Sheridan had good action catching 20 of 35 bites feb 17th. Tim Johnson's crew caught 10 of 25 bites on a short day Feb 18th. Steve Patterson had scrappy fishing and caught 14 fish on Feb 20th and 21st. Bill Via and crew from Ohio and Texas caught 21 in 2 days the 22nd and 23rd. Jess Brindisi's crew caught 19 in 2 days the 25th and 26th. Rob Askew, John Lytle and gang had a great catch of Wahoo, blackin Tuna and snapper on a trip to Arrowsmith bank on March 2nd. They followed that up with 14 sails on March 3rd. Scrappy fishing for John Walmark and crew the 5th and 6th cathcing 19 sails in 2 days. Only a few days left and we are headed home for spring tuna fishing so give us a call or e-mail. Thanks!
