BILLFISH
Billfish are usually available from April through October with some of the best fishing occurring in August and September. Blue Marlin ("Granders") are always a possibility especially around the full moon in August. White Marlin fishing in August and September also peaks with catches of 10 to 15 fish per boat and as many as 200 caught per day by the fleet. We use 20# to 30# stand-up tackle for White Marlin and 50# to 80# for Blue Marlin. We do not take billfish for mounts. Replican mounts are available from the marina. If you are interested in a mount, be sure to let us know so that we can try to get accurate measurements of your trophy.
YELLOWFIN TUNA
Yellowfin Tuna are available year round with better catches occuring October through June. October through December produces excellent catches and the weather is still very mild. During our winter season the weather is often very unpredictable. Improvement begins by late March. Spring Tuna fishing is great and con continue through June depending on water conditions.
Beginning June 1999, National Marine Fisheries Service imposed a catch limit of 3 Yellowfin per person in addition to the 27" fork length we now have. Our fleet has for years had a self imposed limit of 24 tuna and the federal limit will just help insure that everyone abides by the rules.
DOLPHIN / MAHI-MAHI
Dolphin begin to show up as early as April, some years, and continue through November. Early Season action in May and June produces outstanding light tackle action with "gaffers" weighing 10 to 20 pounds. Summer dolphin aciton is mainly smaller fish caught on small baitcaster and spinning rods. Most of the summer action occurs on weedlines and around floating debris, along current edges and tidelines. On good days, we can catch a limit of 60 fish in as little aas 15 to 20 minutes.
The North Carolina limit for Dolphin is 10 per person on private boats and 60 per boat for charter boats.

BLUEFIN TUNA
Bluefin action begins in January and continues through early April. In January we move the boat to Teach's Lair Marina in Hatteras Village and fish for the giants until the end of March. Most of the fish are under 500 pounds. But, there are a few caught over that weight every year. Once the fish are located, the action is pretty much non-stop. We use heavy tackle (Penn 130's) with 50 pound of drag. Most of the fish are brought to the boat within 15 or 20 minutes and are released unharmed. The fish are so aggressive they take the bait so close to the boat that you'll get wet from the strike splash. We limit our parties to 12 fish per day but you'll see hundreds of them so close you could almost free gaff them.
FISHING AND DISABILITIES
We specialize in fishing with people ho have physical disabilities. With our "Geezer Gadget" (invented by Bob "Peg Leg" Sumners) we have helped both quadriplegics and paraplegics catch Bluefin tuna up to 500 pounds. Children, ten years old, have caught 60 pound Yellowfin without anyone else touching the rod. If you have a special need, we'll do everything we can to safely accommodate you.
